I walked among the aged trees... The wilted flowers on the sides of the roads... The place was empty. Everything was empty.
It felt like it'd been an eternity... I shook my head, breathing out deeply. I couldn't let this take over me. I wouldn't. This was something I had to do. This needed to be done.
Autumn leaves trailed over the rotted pavement as my bare feet tread the long since abandoned ground. This place was far too familiar for my liking

We rushed forward at a quicker pace than that. I couldn’t help but feel that Myria was watching us right now, laughing. I narrowed my eyebrows, hastening my feet. Soon enough, we were standing outside Janet’s door. Rin stepped up and knocked on it.
“Coming!” Janet’s mom called out. The sound of shuffling inside was heard, before she opened the door, recognising us and smiling. “Come to see Janet?”
I nodded. “Yeah. I gotta check up on her. It’s been over a day, so... We bought snacks!” I offered. Rin glanced at me with an eyebrow raised, as I fumbled through my pockets, pulling out

“… How are you handling it?” I finally said, referencing the elephant in the room that had been present ever since we left his house. I was standing next to Rin, on a small bridge overlooking a vast stream in the middle of the forest.
“I did what I had to do. I can take solace in that.” Rin replied, gripping the rails a little tighter.
“… I still think there has to be something we can do to invalidate the contract. Tear it in two, subvert it…” I said, quietly.
“I’ve been thinking about that for the past couple of days, Naema. The only way we’d be able to subvert it

My eyes snapped open. I was breathing heavily, lying on my bed. I rolled over on my side, gripping my sheets, my tails curling around my legs as I trembled gently. I didn't remember anything about the last twenty-four hours.
‘I…Illaena…? … H... How much time…?’
‘A day, like I said. Thank you, Naema. I have made significant progress in getting my own body. I really appreciate your choice to go through with it.’
‘You didn't give me a choice.’
‘I did. Unlike Myria, I am not one to force things on people.’
‘That’s why I'm a girl, right?’
‘Tha

My heart felt like it’d sunk into the deepest depths. I recoiled in surprise, my fear obvious for a split second, before I focused on hardening my expression. Nobody seemed to notice. Myra knew, though.
She was dressed in flowing, white robes, and had angelic wings on her back. Her hair was pure white, flowing down to her knees. Her skin was a pale white, though it had a kind of alien beauty to it.
“Myria?! What the--!” Janet said, standing up in surprise, her eyes wide. I wasn’t able to bring myself to speak, or move. In reality, I was focused on making sure I didn’t pass out. Or have involuntary bowel movemen

“Are you sure you want to go?” I heard Mike ask, from behind me.
It was the next day, and I had told Mike that I was going to Janet’s place for a while. I neglected to mention the oncoming transformation. It was after breakfast, and the transformation was scheduled for an hour from now. I had my backpack on, filled with a few resources, just in case anything happened. I knew what I was doing was risky. But I couldn’t let Janet down.
“Yeah.” I replied, walking up to the door. “I’ll see you later, okay?” I said, my tails flicking a little behind me as I smiled softly.
He nodded. “St

That night, Mike organized a bonfire in the rather large backyard of the Dojo. We were on the very edge of the forest, so it was very nice. It had to be a small distance away from the dojo, though, so the smoke didn't stink the place up.
Mike had brought with him several large packs of marshmallows, and we picked up some sticks form the ground, brushing them off a little.
We roasted marshmallows in silence for a while, mulling over the day’s events. I felt a little more refreshed by the nap, enough to make me wonder if the added tail had done anything to up my energy reserves.
“...About ten years ago, I was visited by a trader.

My eyes snapped open, as I breathed heavily inwards. I stared at the ceiling of my room, wiping some sweat off of my brow. My muscles ached. It felt like I’d barely gotten any sleep at all. Sighing, I glanced down at my body, and… Well, I let out a loud yelp, scrambling backwards against the wall.
One, two… Three? I couldn't have counted three. I sat up, grabbing my tails with my hands, grouping them together and staring them down. My tails twitched in my hands, but there were definitely three.
I couldn't help but smile a little. That was when I found myself chuckling lightly. To know that I was one step closer to my goa

I braced myself for the inevitable impact. I angled my feet to hit the ground, but as I looked down, a wolf was already there, waiting. I couldn't take the time to think things through, because it’d have my neck if I did. There was no time to pull an arrow out on my way down, so I did the only thing I felt I could do at the time; I de-summoned my bow, extended my claws, and as soon as I got close enough to its mouth, I kicked it as hard as I could. It stumbled back a bit at the impact, just as I found myself hitting the ground—hard. The impact sent waves of pain shooting through my body.
I heard the sound of the wolf rushing towa

I stirred slightly, blinking a bit as my vision cleared. "Nn….Nnnh…" I mumbled a little, shaking my head, looking around, trying to focus. I didn't know how long I'd been out, but it was already night-time. There were more people up here, now, and it was a rather crowded roof. But we had no choice. We had to get as many people up here as we could, then work on trapping the Myrian's somewhere…
I found I had energy in my legs, and hands. I twitched a little, blinking, as I grabbed the edge of a wooden crate, pulling myself up, getting onto my feet, panting a little. My stomach rumbled, but I couldn't really do anything about that now, I had to
